Paulus Potter (1625 - 1654)
Holland’s most outstanding 17th century animal painter probably trained initially with his father, a glass-painter, and later with Claes Moeyaert (1590/91–1655) and Jacob de Wet (ca 1610–1675). From 1649 he lived in The Hague, where he became a member of the Guild of St. Luke and briefly took lodgings in a house belonging to Jan van Goyen in the Singelgracht (Dunne Bierkade). He spent the last two years of his life in Amsterdam.
