Bernardo Strozzi (1581 - 1644)

Strozzi was a Genovese painter of the early Italian baroque era, considered in the 1630s as one of the leading Venetian masters. At the age of 17, he entered the Capuchin Convent of Santa Barbara. He became a secular priest in 1610 and moved to Venice in 1630, where he died, a highly esteemed artist, in 1644. His early works are inspired by Tuscan painting and by Federico Barocci (1535–1612). Later he was also influenced by Lombardic, Venetian and Flemish art.
