Constantijn Daniel à oder/or van Renesse (1626 - 1680)
In 1638 his father moved the family to Breda, to enter the service of stadtholder Friedrich Heinrich of Orange. In 1639, Constantijn began studying literature in Leiden, at the same time training his drawing skills by copying graphic works by Pieter Jansz. Quast and Jacques Callot, until in 1649 he completed a course in drawing with Rembrandt. Today, some seven paintings, 20 engravings and 70 drawings are attributed to him. Some of these last show corrections made by Rembrandt or his assistants. In 1653 Renesse was named town clerk of Eindhoven, a post he held until his death.
