This is a typical rapidly sketched, partly washed drawing, briefly rendering all the important geographical and urbanistic details. Bridge and town form the architectural counterpart to unspoilt nature.
The dominant elements are the Plain bridge over the gently flowing Alterbach at the foot of the Plainberg and the group of trees on the right. On the crest of the stone bridge stands a statue of St John Nepomuk, made by Josef Anton Pfaffinger in 1733. On the right of the saint is a suggestion of a draught animal pulling a vehicle on the way to Bergheim or Laufen. Although the foreground is detailed, the middle- and background are merely sketched, with the Kapuzinerberg, Fortress, Cathedral and Mönchsberg drawn with only a few lines, and the Hoher Göll simply outlined.
