The artist’s preferred picture support is copper. Besides its special glow, it shows his fine brushwork to best advantage.
His work includes mythological and biblical scenes, but it was due not least to the erotic charms of his delicately nuanced, richly populated genre paintings – such as Dance in the Park – that Platzer rose to become a sought-after painter in Viennese society.
